Marks Rubric - Students will be evaluated on five assessment criteria with marks repre
A) Content
4 Mark: Complete. The writer has clearly conveyed the main idea of the argument and has provided supporting details that are relevant and interesting.
3 Marks: Generally complete. The writer has conveyed the main idea of the argument, but has not given adequate relevant details to support it.
2 Marks: Somewhat incomplete. The main idea of the argument is unclear. Much of the detail is irrelevant to the topic.
1 Marks: Incomplete. The main idea of the argument is unclear. Details are random and irrelevant to the topic.
B) Comprehensibility
4 Marks: Very comprehensible. The student uses appropriate language to convey the main idea clearly.
3 Marks: Comprehensible. The message in this writing is unclear in places. The language used is inadequate to make the message totally clear.
2 Marks: Somewhat incomprehensible. The message could only be understood by a sympathetic native speaker. The language used is often inappropriate or distorted by interference from English.
1 Marks: Incomprehensible.
C) Organisation and Presentation
4 Marks: Well organized and presented in an appropriate format. The order is logical and effective, and sequencing words are used consistently and appropriately. The presentation helps communicate the main idea.
3 Marks: Generally well organized with a few minor problems. The writer uses adequate sequencing words with few mistakes.
2 Marks: Poorly organized. Order is illogical and confusing in places. Incorrect use of sequencing words and the presentation from the main idea.
1 Marks: Inappropriate presentation. The lack of organization distorts or completely obscures the main idea.
D) Accuracy
4 Marks: Functions, grammar, and vocabulary are used correctly. Spelling, capitalization, and punctuation are generally correct. 0 - 5 errors.
3 Marks: Any mistakes in usage are minor and do not distort or inhibit communication. Spelling, capitalization, and punctuation mistakes are infrequent. 6-8 errors.
2 Marks: Problems in usage significantly distort meaning and inhibit communication in some instances. Frequent mistakes in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation disrupt the flow. 9 - 10 errors.
1 Marks: Problems in usage distort meaning and completely inhibit communication. Mistakes in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation make the item incomprehensible. 10 errors.
E) Efforts
4 Marks: Exceeds the minimum requirements of the assignment and provides evidence of thoughtful input.
3 Marks: Fulfills the minimum requirements of the assignment and provides evidence of thoughtful input.
2 Marks: Fulfills the minimum requirements of the assignment but does not show evidence of thoughtful input.
1 Marks Does not fulfill the minimum requirements of the assignment.
