  1. Wage is referred to payment for labor or services of a worker. It may be calculated as a fixed amount (according to the agreement between employee and employer), or in accordance to the time spent on work by the worker (most of the time given hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or annually), or based on the quantity of work done.

Wages for an occupation is, mainly, the reason why certain people choose certain jobs. Money (or wage) is the most common motivation of getting a job. It is a peculiar thing that seems to be the centre of everyone’s lives. You need money to survive; to have both your necessities and desirables fulfilled. You work to earn money and of course, need money to get to work.

Surveys from the Cornell University, USA has proven that the majority of the respondents are willing to choose money over happiness. This means that each and every one of us would rather have a well-paid job to live with. Many stated that picking the better and higher paid jobs would make them and their family happier. Some stated that it would be nice to enjoy the social status that came with the cash.

However, even though wage might be the most frequent motivation for people to get a job, it is not the one and only reason. There is always more to life than just the money. The crowd, today, has decided to choose their career paths, based on other considerations and determinants, than just the wage factor.

Some people choose their occupations based on what they like or their hobbies, or their natural abilities or talents. For example, if a person likes to cook or is talented at it, he or she can choose to become a professional chef. It is believed that a perfect life is when you can put your hobbies into a career.

Next to that, working time also gives a contribution. Very few people would work during midnight for the sake of higher wages. Working during irregular working hours (such as midnight), will affect both your psychological and social aspects. By working midnight, you and your body will need to adjust to a few changes.

First, and most obvious is your sleeping and eating phases will change. Second of all, your efficiency or working performance will decrease, due to the shortened sleeping period. Shortened sleeping period does not only cause you to decrease your working performances, but also other health conditions. Thirdly, there will be changes in your social life. As a result of the long working hours, you might have abandoned your responsibilities you need to carry out.

Other consideration made by many is the job satisfaction; how content an individual is with their job. Job satisfaction includes environmental and individual factors. Environmental factors are usually discussing about how friendly everyone else is at the workplace, how each employee is performing, etc.

Individual factors though are mostly about your own mood and emotions. Some research suggests that mood might be affecting one’s overall job satisfaction. It may relate to an individual’s personality. Researches suggests that people with negative affectivity are most likely to experience less job satisfaction, while people with positive affectivity are most likely to experience more job satisfaction.

All in all, money is not always the reason in choosing your careers. It should be one of the considerations when picking a career, however, it should never be the deciding factor. Besides, when your passion and abilities shine in the work you do, because you’re doing your passion, you’re more likely to get promotions (which means more cash!)

  2. Money is important in life. People need money to live to get food, shelter, and clothing. People’s life depends on God and money. Without money, it’ll be hard to live. Money help people for consuming and producing. Everyone wants to be highly satisfied. To be satisfied, people need money. And if we earn much money, and become rich, people will look to us better. There are many reasons, people need money. Therefore, people work to get money. It’s the main reason for people to work, to earn money. Because if we work and don’t earn wage, it will not be useful. Some wages are fixed, and some are not. When someone wants to choose a job, it’s not only that they see the amount of wages they get. They will want to see the type of wage they will earn. There are also some other factors (non-wage factors) which people might also look up to. Because when people want to choose a job, they must look at all the factors and all the things that will happen before making the decision.

For example, time of work. If the time is long, it could cause boredom. People need time to rest. Even with high wages, some people might not want to work for like 24 hours. Time is important. Some people got their event blocked because they had to work. Or holidays will be later. Time/hours of work is also one of the most important reasons for selection of a job.

People will judge the satisfaction of the job. Some people like business, then they would want to become a businessman. Some people likes biology, then they would want to be a doctor. Some people likes sports, then they would want to be an athlete. These are satisfaction of jobs. A hobby would be done better than something they don’t like. If people don’t like something, they won’t do it whole-heartedly or well compare to the jobs they like to do. People will be more enthusiastic to do something that is interesting

People also look to the environment of the work he is in. The facilities of the workplace. Environment matters a lot in a job, because if people are not fit with the job, it’ll be hard to work. People also see the human environment. For example if the environment, all people are unfriendly, they wouldn’t help each other, when we work, we can’t just be an individual. If we work, it is really important to socialize. Another example is the manager’s attitude. Too strict isn’t good. If the workers there are racist, you will also feel uncomfortable. People could look to the physical environment. Some people could be more interested working indoor, with air conditioner, like an office, but some wants outdoor like construction works.

A job also needs a qualification. Smarter people are always on higher position. It depends on the quality of education they got. If we aren’t in high position, we won’t be getting as much wage as the ones which have higher position than us. Another factor people will mind could be the distance to the work place. If it’s too far away, people will have to go there longer than if they had closer work places.

People will also see the security of the job. They will worry about how dangerous the job is. Some other non-wages factors are holiday entitlement, promotion prospect, etc. So, the conclusion is that wages or money is not the most important factors for people to choose a job, there are also many non-wage factors that people have to see to make a decision of the job.

  3. A wage is remuneration paid by an employer to an employee. It may be calculated as a fixed task based amount, or at an hourly rate, or based on an easily measured quantity of work done. Employer calculate wages of four types, annual wages which is fix, time wages which depends on time, piece wages which depends on how piece does the worker made in a period of time and performance related payments as an example of insurance agent which means they got a bonus everytime they sold their goods.
The most important facts influencing choice of occupation is wages. Worker usually will accept occupations because of the wages, even though they don’t like the occupations but if the employer will give them a high wages of course they will accept it because wages can be used for many things. Money are the main important things that role our life. Without money people can’t eat and drink, have shelter and many more. Money are neccesary and it must be fulfilled to make us survive in this world.
Other factors, some people will choose their occupation based on their hobbies or what they usually like to do. Example they like to study biology, so maybe they can be a doctor or may be they like to play soccer so may be when they grew up they can join as one of the famous team and got wages from that occupation.
But not all people have the same amount of wages. Occupational wage differentials by some factors, such as different abilities and qualification which means workers do not all have the same training and quality, example accountant is more skilled than maid, Dirty jobs and unsociable hours which means some works are dirty and dangerous, so workers will be payed more to attract a supply of labour or some people have to work until midnight and they will got a high wages, job satisfaction which means the satisfaction provided by undertaking a job can compensate for relatively low wages for some poeple, example nursing are considered more worthly than others by some poeple and this make this occupation more attractive.

  4. Lack of information about jobs and wages which remains sometimes workers work for less than they could earn in other roles simply because they do not know about the availability of better paid jobs elsewhere, and labour immobility which means the ease with workers can move between different occupations and different areas of a country known as labour mobility.
An employer also have some factors in giving the wages, they are kinds and levels of required skills : This is the most important factors influencing the individual rate of pay, they are required in their speech-language, knowledge and skills, supply and demand of labour : the worker that have high skills, quality and training will also have high demand, example : The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) monitors the supply and demand for more than 800 occupations. According to the BLS, 1,200 additional audiologists jobs and 12,000 additional speech-language pathologists needed to fill the demand through 2016, profitability of the organization : employees working for higher profitable business have greater chance of receiving higher wages, geographic location : the more modern the area was, the higher wages it will be offered, example : if you earned a salary of $40,000 in Texarkana, you would have to earn $87,885 in Honolulu to maintain the same standard of living-that represents a 120% difference in pay because Honolulu cityis more modern than texarkana
    .
Employment settings : there are often unique circumstances that drive salary-related decisionmaking in different settings, for example : The ASHA database tracks 34 different employment settings in which audiologists or speech-language pathologists work. According to the "ASHA Demographic Profile of the ASHA Membership and Affiliation," primary employment facilities include educational (54.7%), followed by health care (39%), all other facilities (6.3%). Employment stability : all workers want to work untill they old or they can managed by their own when will they stop their work and when will they should still have occupations, employees who feel that a job is secure are often willing to accept less than they would be paid in a potentially unstable environment and gender difference : in some places, women still have a lower wages to men because most of the business women have a low status job, women are payed less because of fewer years of sustained work experience or a lower level of education.
But there are many other factors except wage sthat can affect teh workers in choosing their occupation, such as hours of work, holiday entitlement, promotion prospects, flexible working arrangements, qualifications required, quality of working environent, how secure the job is, how satisfying the work is, fringe benefits, training opportunities, pension ( money that will given from employer to employee when the employee leaves their occupations ) entitlement, opportunities for promotion, interesting and varis tasks, and distance or time it takes to travel to and from work. Finally, I concluded that there are many factors in choosing a job, but the most important facator is the wgaes and there are also some factors that influence the employee ti give more wages or less wages.

  5. First of all, wages is money that workers get from their jobs or occupations. People need money to support their lives in order to survive. Of course, that is why wage is the most important factor affecting people to work. There are less people who work ONLY for satisfaction or other benefits. The factors that affect occupational choice aside from wages is called non wage incentives like satisfaction, this usually involves more on individuals. Promotions, they work to get higher promotion in the working place. Environment, good environment like society and surroundings make them happy of working in that place. Time of work like working in shifts is much better so that we can have enough time to rest and other facilities or benefits. It is often said that money can’t buy happiness, but when money is used to buy goods that satisfy our wants, it makes us happy though. Nowadays, people even work for the sake of money over happiness, that usually happens to those who are living alone that they do not need to spend money for other members of the family. Most workers try their best in doing their tasks in order to get higher salaries. Increasing wages can include promotion, means that a higher position in the firm or organization may help the worker to get more salary than those who are in a lower position, as the responsibility is higher, difficulty in the tasks, etc. Getting more training can also help to increase wages, more training means more skills and knowledge also experience in doing that particular job. Another way is allocating more time on the production, there are a lot of workers out there who often stay up late in the office so that they can produce more and then get more money as additional tips. Not all people are successful in many different activities, that is why specialization is needed in an economy. Specialization means focusing on just one certain task to produce goods and services. The same as division of labor, it is according to workers’ capability and skills. In every occupation there is always a wage rate. Wage rate is the amount of wages per unit of time, or simply the rate at which goods and services are produced. Some people would work extra time or even double their time to get more money every period of time like hours. There is also wage determination, it determines the amount of wages the workers will get according to how well they spent time working. Although there are different types of wages that can also determine the amount of wages like time, piece, performance, annual or fixed, etc. Other factors that can also determine amount of wages are the output produced, the more the workers produce, the more money they will get, this is beneficial to both firm side and workers side because each of them get the benefits. In addition, if the business gets more income in their business, usually the workers or employees will also get an extra amount of wages. This often valid in small businesses. Another one is skill, different workers have yet different skills. That is why specialization, again, is needed. Different skills also will get different amount of wages, most of the time the better or rare skills will earn more wages because more skills needed to do that particular tasks. The last but not least is the demand and supply of labor. If the demand of that labor is higher than the supply, of course more salary the worker will get. However, if the supply of the labor is less than the demand, the worker will have to get less salary. All of the factors affecting occupational job therefore explains why wages are the most important factor influencing the choice of occupation to many individuals.

  6. Wages is important for business, because people look in accordance to how many wages the company gives their employee. Other times, wages can be the reasons for many people that are choose their job, because we need money in our life in order to live our everyday life. People also want to work that are skilled job in order to get high wages. From the high wages that you received, people like to spend it with buying things that they want. In other words, people want to get high wages so that they can become rich. Although wage is important for us to work, due to the reason of receiving money that is important, there are also other reasons why people choose a specific occupation. The reasons that are about to be listed is for non-wage. The reasons are challenge. A job's challenge is also the reason why people choose a job. The challenges make them more entertained and work with more effort. Every job has its own challenge; it is all just up to the people that like to do which more than another. Another reason is the accordance of specialization. You choose the job that you are specialized at. And if you are one of those specialist people, you might get a higher wage too. Second, the other reason is due to your satisfaction. Like when you were a kid, teachers asked you what you wanted to be when you grow up. And when you grow up, some people have a job that they chose and wanted when they were kids. They do the job because they are passionate and satisfied to do it. They find the job interesting, unique and enjoyable. But sooner or later, you will get bored of the job because you do that job over and over again. This leads us back to wages and time. Wages can also be according to how long we work. If we work little hours every day, week, month or year, then we will not receive a high wage. The managers will look according to how long we work, and the time of how long you work will affect the wages that we receive. Usually, the main key is that the longer you work, the higher the wage rates you will receive. But that doesn't mean that people who are busy works efficiently. Wages is actually important and affect us when we want to choose a certain job. Every people that are hiring, will always ask the number of wages that they will receive in either a month or a year. But I think that people should not find work and based it on the amount of wages you receive but also the passion that you have. If you think wisely, actors did not become an actor just because they receive very high wages but also because they love acting. Actors do their job because they love it, and they get paid for it, and if they do well they will receive a reward for working hard. Personally, I think that in life, we should not only choose a job based on the wages but also according to what we like to do and are specialized at it. We should not just pick a job just because they receive a high wage rate but you do not enjoy it. We might have to do the job until a very old age, unless you find another job which is kind of hard to do. Overall, I think that we should find a job and based it on the wages because that is also important for our lives, but also a job that is based on our specialization.

  7. A wage is a payment paid from and employer to an employee for supplying labour or producing goods and services. It can be paid based on the amount of hours worked, the amount of goods produced, or even based on the workers performance in the firm.

When some people are asked why they work, most of them say its only for money. Working for money makes us financially independent and get control of ourselves. We live in a world that thrives and revolves with money, therefore money is very important. It is normal to first consider the salary that a particular work offers before taking any factors into account. It is rare to hear of a person who happily takes a non paying work when they start a new one. All of us need the money to pay our basic needs, such as accommodation, personal bills and food. Many adults have families that depends on the wages they earn and at the same time they are very aware about their savings for years to come. If we are not paid for our job, most of us wouldn’t want to continue in their jobs.

Nevertheless, work is a way of noticing an individuals social value. Money is not always the reason people work. In oppose, few people are more interested to jobs that earn low wages but with rare or interesting career offers, satisfying, great holiday entitlement, such as charity work. A brief example is Mother Theresa, she doesn’t care the amount of money she will get, but was immensely happy with her work.

People usually make career plans and choices while they are in university. They may want to choose their ideal job based on their hobbies or interests and capabilities.

If a person loves to write and has a talent for writing, she may become a bestselling author or an editor in a well known press. A person must be interested in the job they are doing whole heartedly, otherwise it may be stressful and boring.

  8. We also need a balance between work and our life.

According the The Survey of Working Life New Zealand, most of the country’s employers work more than 60 hours a week and some found it really stressful with no work-life balance.

Therefore, work hours also pay a great affect in job demands and are very important in job determination. A job offer wouldn’t be flooded with applications if the hours at work starts in early morning and ends at late night. It isn’t healthy for our condition physically and mentally. People want a job with generous holiday entitlement and flexible working arrangements that greatly balance them both. Holiday entitlement is also important so that people can take a break and have more quality time with their loved ones.

Special qualifications are also required in choosing a career. People specializing in specific subject and skills than to attract higher rates of pay then those who don’t. While a person is at work, they will always be developing there skills better.

Work environment is also an active role of factor. A person wouldn’t want to work in a crampt place full of people going around and elsewhere. They would want complete facilities such as a full air conditioning room, free internet access, lounge for workers to chill and take a break, high tech computers, and so on. Social activites are also involved in the environment. If the people at work are friendly, helpful, and cooperative, the person may feel comfortable. A good structure and organization of the firm makes a visible definition of what their future job may be like for workers.

Another factor is the distance and time of a work place. A person will mostly choose work that are close to their houses. Also, choosing a secure job is also important. Future workers may want a safe job that won’t affect their lost of life, even if it is high paid. Workers also tend to choose a satisfying job, such as a company with a helpful and kind boss. Opportunities of promotion is another factor, they would not want to stay in the position forever with the same amount of wages.

In some cases, people may want to choose their job base on high status. They wanted their job for pride. There is a quote against this – “Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress.” This simply means that we need to work hard to produce meaningful goods and services, not for a title.

With the factors above, I do agree that financial reasons or wages is the main attraction why people work, but NOT all of it is because of money. Other factors included are also important too.

  9. Wages not the only factor that influence of choosing occupation because i believe that you dont want to work in afganistan for joining the war, even if the pay 1 million dollars , i believe that we dont want to. So, wages is not the only factor, there are satisfaction, promotions, environment, time of work , medical fascilities/benefits.

We start with satisfaction, we want to work at a place that give us provide us satisfaction. The satisfaction is for individual. The satisfaction could be take a leave 18 days each year or they will pay for your entertainment/travelling but with a certain budget that already made by the owner of the company.

The second one is promotion, who dont want to be promote? I believe that everyone want to be promoted to a higher level. The higher level workers will get more wages. The promotion is counted/based on how big is the company is. If the company is big, so there are more chances to be promoted to a higher level, example from manager to general manager or from customer service staff to senior staff.

The third is environment, there are some people that want to work at a place where have own kitchen each floor or high speed wifi or even the office provide/ lend ipad of or tablet or pc or laptop to the worker. The environment can be fascilities and others.if the company is a big company, i believe that the company have good fascilities.

The forth is time of work, i believe that no one want to work for 24 hour 7 days full, i believe that you want to work shorter. If you work in a restaurant or in a small shop you will work in shifts, there are 3 types of shifts, the first is morning until afternoon, the second is from afternoon until night and the third one is from night until morning, but not all store open for 24 hours most of them only until night(around 09:00 until 21:00). If you work in a big company you will work from 9 in the morning until 7 at night, but if you work in a big company, usually you will get more wages.

The fifth is medical facilities /benefit, who dont want to be recovered for free? If you work in a big company, sometimes the company/ office will be the one who pay for your check up or for your recovering program, but with a certain budget that already fixed or chosen by the owner of the company.

    Thats all from me thankyou

  10. Wage is the payment for work done or services rendered to a worker, especially remuneration on an hourly, daily, or weekly or by the piece. wage is one of the most important factors for employee satisfaction. Wages is often determined the factor for career choice. It is the payments by results and piecework payments, allowances for working overtime, commissions, gratuities and tips received by employees. Wages usually is given in the form of money. Money is needed to buy our daily needs. However, wages is not the only factor a person choose jobs. There are also many other factors influencing the choice of occupation. Such as;

You may have a strong interest in a particular job. Your natural skills and abilities to perform well in a particular thing are likely to influence your choice of a work. For example, if you've always done well in science in school and got good grades, you may be drawn to a career in scientist.

Being recognised for something that you do good is nice. Most employee wanted their works to be recognised. This can positively impact their job satisfaction. Recognition is a form of positive impact and serves as a motivator. For example, if you are doing your first clothing designs, you wanted your works to be recognised. When they recognised that the work you performed was nice, you would work even harder because the work you do values and appreciated.

Cultural and Family Influences. The surroundings and people that surround you on a daily basis can shape your decision to choose a certain job. The place where you grow up can also create expectations about the type of career you wanted to. For example, when you were younger, you always help your mother cooking, this could make you to be a chef.

Leadership Style. Leaders must know the right working style to use with their employees. Some employees prefer attention. They expect their supervisors to give them daily assignments and check their works. However, when leaders make all the decisions, it can cause job dissatisfaction among talented employees.

Responsibilities. The most ambitious employees often want for more responsibilities as they gets experience. Employees who take on more responsibilities can learn more in their current positions. Thus, they have a greater chance of being satisfied with their jobs when they get promoted within their organisations.

You may choose a job that requires living in a certain region, or you may find that working opportunities are more plentiful in a particular part of the place. For example, If the job you chose is far away from where you are living, it would be uncomfortable for you because you need to wake up earlier so that you will not be late for work.

Wages is one of the most important factor that influence someone's career path. Even though it is the one of the most important factor, we also need to consider other important factors, such as the location, job security, job satisfaction, leadership style, family influence, etc.

  11. Yes, money affects most in choosing occupation because people need money. And sometimes, people are not really satisfied of what they have. Beside needs, people also need to purchase their wants.
Obviously, people will choose the occupation with highest wages. Especially for those who have family.
Sometimes, people choose occupations with high wages just to do such unimportant thing like gambling and drunk.

But sometimes people look for other reason to choose occupation . Workers need well environment , good benefit and compensation for employee such as health insurance. Car ownership program, stock option.

  12. However, some people depend on the amount of work. Lazy people don't usually depend on the money they will receive. If they will get high wages but hard works, they won't take that job.
And some people would choose to be a worker with low wages but comfortable. Anyways, people with low educations won't be able to do the work with high wages. They would prefer being a low class ones. Why? Because they aren't responsible.
On the other hand, distance would also affect. Some people would rather choose work with lower wages than working at a place with longer distance.
Transportations need money, if they have to go to further places and go back home, it wastes money. So some people dont wanna work in further places.

  14. In this world, there are thousands of individuals trying to choose what job they would like to have. For some, money could be an important factor, but there are other factors that are equally or more important when selecting a job. People select an occupation based on job facility, office location, dignity and social esteem or personal satisfaction that it would bring, most importantly, however, I believe is the job prospect.

Young adults may care so much about the facility of the work. Some think that being given with a great desk with a view or nice workplace is a must. I think having a good environment in a workplace is important as it could help people to be more creative or work better but it could be the least important out of all.

When people ask you, “What is your job?” Do you think that it will give you high self-esteem if you say you work as a street sweeper or a maid? Some young adults think dignity and social esteem as the most important factor during job selection. They want others to see that they are capable to get a good job and feel good about it. You could say that they want to have a good opinion from others.

Let’s say you have chosen a job and you are given a task. That task may be challenging to solve or complete. However, it will give you great satisfaction after you have completed the task. Will you get the same satisfaction when you received higher income? To me, getting job satisfaction is such an important factor. Somehow, I feel really happy and satisfied when I get my job well done. As a student, whenever I am facing school assignments or projects, I feel happy when I get the assignment well done.

I’ve heard that some of my older friends who are already working now. It seems that they only care of how much their income is. When they think that their income is too low, they will look for another job that offer better pay. Are they going to keep doing that for the rest of their working lives? Don’t you think that working could lead you to something else more worthwhile other than just income? Working a certain job has its benefits; it could be gaining work experience, or technical skills and making positive contribution to the company that they work.

In my opinion, wages is important but they are not the most important factor influencing job selection for many individuals. When people are looking for a job, they should not just see how much they could earn. They should also think where the job could take them, or the experience they will be getting afterwards. Some jobs could perhaps make you a CEO in the future. If you have that job, would you take it even if the income is not that high at the moment? I know I would. When you think about it, it is a great job offer.

  15. Wages is the money we received after working hard in a firm. We need to work in order to earn money/get wages. Wages is not the important factor influencing for choosing the occupation. There are some factor influencing for an individual to choose an occupation. They are the self satisfaction, the environment, the individual's family whether they are coming with the individual who choose the job or not, and also the challenge they will have at the new place they are working at. Everyone needs money but that doesn't mean that wage is the most important thing in choosing occupation. The most important thing is the shelter, clothes, and foods. All the factors that influence people choosing occupation are all important. But also there are some people that is ok if they get a little amount of wage, maybe 1 out of a million of people who are the foolish people they think they can fulfill their needs and wants only for 3 million Rupiah of wage. If we want to increase our wages, there are 4 things that we need to improve from ourselves. They are by having promotion, we can get the promotion by training ourselves to become a better worker in that specific firm/office, we can also increase our wages by allocating more time on production and also by specialization. Specialization is the new skills/ability of the workers/individuals to produce more goods and services. The wage also can be affected by the wage determination. There two wage determination, they are the demand for labour and the supply of labour.

There are also four types of wages that can increase our wages. They are the piece wages, time wages, annual wages, and performance-based wages. The piece wages can increase our wages but it can also decrease our wages, we can increase our wages by making more unit of product, the more we produce the more we can get our wages. Time wages also can increase our wages but also can decrease our wages, the more time that we work per day or per week can increase our wages. Annual wages is a fixed wages so it only has a little percentage to increase wages, if we want to increase our wages, we need to get a promotion by training. Performance based wages also can increase but also can decrease our wages, for example, we are an insurance agent, we can get more money by getting more customer to be a member of our insurance agency. We can also can increase our wages by being a high skilled workers, for example an engineer. We can get a normal wages by being a semi skilled workers, for example an employee in a firm. We can get a little amount of wages by being a non skilled workers, example a fruit picker.
